Company
Scene Cinema Ltd. is a UK registered company, established in 2003 by teacher/writers Dean Conrad and Jim Hawkins. The initial aim was to take video production and creative writing skills into education; this expanded into educational consultancy. We have worked with a number of institutions to develop
Degree, BTec and Diploma programmes, as well as courses of study for 'gifted
and talented' students, 'special needs' students, young offenders - and
teachers.
We continue to work with friends and colleagues in the HE, FE, secondary and primary tiers, in the pubic and independent sectors.
In 2007, we developed and published award-winning boardgames under our imprint, Ludorum Games. These proved popular with schools experimenting with the (then Labour) government's initiative for introducing thinking and social skills to SEN and G&T students. Boardgame projects have also been popular with art and technology departments. Government policies (and governments) come and go, but we still maintain that boardgames have an important role to play in schools.
In March 2010, Scene Cinema purchased the full rights to the successful Melissi software from Melissi Multimedia Ltd. (more details here) After some initial chages to the offering and prices, our efforts are now bent towards version 5 and some exciting new educational media projects.
